POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a key management level position involving substantial administrative oversight and program development under the Housing First Division which was created as a result of the Housing First Model. Under the Housing First model, stable, affordable, and accessible housing is provided to individuals/families experiencing homelessness quickly and without prerequisites, and voluntary supportive services are offered to help improve housing stability and well-being. It is a flexible model that can be adapted to address the unique needs facing individuals and families. Housing First is not "housing only." It includes an array of support services - such as outreach, case management support, access to substance use and mental health counseling and linkages to healthcare - needed to live stably in the community. Housing First recognizes that stable housing is required for effective behavioral health and/or substance use treatment and for improved quality of life. Once stably housed, individuals/families are better able to take advantage of services to help support housing stability, education, employment, and overall health. Without stable housing, attaining these goals becomes much more difficult. The Senior Director of Housing First directly oversees and supervises a range of services focused on serving individuals and families whom are faced with homelessness, living in homes unfit for human habitation or at risk of becoming homeless. This position is committed to ensuring that homelessness is 1) rare, 2) brief and 3) non-reoccurring. Oversight and management of supervisors and client facing positions include, but are not limited to intensive case management, wraparound facilitation, dispatchable, targeted and jurisdictional street outreach, SOAR and Integrated Decision Team (IDT) staffing services. The Senior Director ensures that service delivery is streamlined, project goals and outcomes are tracked, daily oversight of department employees is managed, and client risk is monitored and elevated while working through crisis situations as they occur. The Senior Director of Housing First works with community partners and funders, representing the agency's Housing First service lines. The Senior Director partners with other Directors within the agency to support clients holistically. This position is fast paced with many competing priorities. Work hours for this position are flexible, expanding into nights and weekends, based on the needs of the clients served. The Senior Director must be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. DFL prides itself on the fact that it is a trauma informed care services provider. This position requires that trauma informed practices are embedded into all services provided.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must hold a Master's Degree Social Work or related area of study from an accredited university with seven (7) years of experience in leadership and delivering/consulting on child welfare services and/or a combination of child welfare, homeless and behavioral health services.
  2. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of verifiable experience in a supervisor or director role.
