Medical Director/Staff Psychiatrist

This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer with oversight of medical staff and medical assistants. The position requires that sixteen hours per week be dedicated to the function of Medical Director and all other time be spent acting in the capacity of a Staff Psychiatrist.

DUTIES

The Medical Director will develop and manage an effective, efficient and productive medical staff. The Medical Director will have an active role in supporting the strategic plans and vision of the organization as defined by the Executive Leadership Team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Formal Education
    • Must be a Board-eligible Psychiatrist.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation with the Florida Department of Professional Regulation.

SKILLS/ABILITY

  • Requires excellent communication skills and the ability to relate well to all types of people.
  • High energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong persuasive and presentation skills, self starter, strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Requires ability to monitor patients through visual and auditory means.
  • Requires ability to read and speak English correctly.
  • Requires ability to assess clinical performance of all clinical providers and must be able to encourage growth and development of the clinical staff.
  • Requires ability to develop practice changes within the organizational context which strengthens overall clinical practice.
  • Requires ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Requires the ability to participate as a member of the senior leadership team, with an active role in supporting the strategic plans and vision of the organization.
  • Must be very responsible.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE

  • Previous experience as a physician leader with demonstrated success in monitoring and evaluating the quality and effectiveness of clinical programs is required.
  • Experience working with Medicaid, Medicare, and pre-paid health plans is highly desired.
  • Experience in strategic and budget planning is required.
  • 5-10 years of successful leadership experience, including excellent clinical and technical skills.
  • Previous experience with the use of an electronic health record is required.
  • Must have mastery of the medical field and the management field, be able to properly supervise and lead (and oversee) the work of other medical and clinical personnel.
  • Must have experience in the treatment of substance use disorders.
  • Child welfare experience is strongly preferred.
