Master Level Counselor
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated, compassionate and mission driven Master Level Counselor to serve Pre-K 2nd grade children within an elementary school located in south St Petersburg. The Master Level Counselor will work as part of a team to provide intensive individual and family trauma-focused interventions to identified children in need of supports and their parents. Services will be primarily provided in the child's home and in the school setting. The focus of the interventions will be with modifying the behaviors of the teachers, decreasing problem behaviors of the identified children, soliciting the engagement and support of the children's parents/caregivers.
- Require experience or training in early childhood mental health, and trauma focused interventions.
- Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field required.
- Knowledge of DSM-IV and ICD-9 diagnostic codes.
- Basic knowledge of psychotropic medications.
- Must have sufficient clinical knowledge to provide clinical intervention with students who manifest a range of psychopathology, utilizing various treatment approaches including individual, family play, and group therapy, individual psychopathology and normal childhood development.
- Must have a willingness to learn approaches with which staff are less familiar as required.
- Must acquire knowledge of community resources.
- Basic knowledge of Pinellas County Schools Educational Alternative Services, Exceptional Student Education, Bullying Prevention and Intervention, Guidance, Summer Bridge, 504 and Student Services programs.
