Director of Development

Salary: $87,500

Position Summary:

The Director of Development supports the fund and resource development functions of a multi-site behavioral healthcare organization. This position will manage the agency's overall development efforts to raise additional dollars through fundraising, capital campaigns, and grant writing efforts, including sustaining current initiatives. This position is responsible for taking leadership on several department initiatives, in four primary categories: 1) supervisory/leadership duties, 2) high-level donor relations and expansion of donor base, 3) high-level grant/funder management, and 4) fundraising events. This position supervises the Grant Writer and Donor Relations Manager position. This position also supports other administrative tasks and functions related to the Communications and Development department of Directions for Living (DFL). This position is responsible for identifying and securing new donor/support sources for Directions for Living, fostering donor relationships, and working creatively to expand the impact of high-level supporters of the organization. This position requires a high level of independent judgment in reviewing and evaluating possible sources of funds and managing funder relationships before, during, and after a proposal is submitted. This position is responsible for leading the agency in new fundraising events and initiatives, including securing new sponsors, event planning, and execution. This position is a member of the Leadership Team and is responsible for collaboration in executing the organization's strategic goals. There is a high level of responsibility for meeting communicated goals, which directly impact the financial status of the business. This position exercises discretion in decision-making on a daily basis. This position requires minimal supervision. This position will serve as the emergency successor to the VP of Communications & Development until which time that the position is filled with a permanent candidate.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, or English, or other closely related field, or a Bachelor's degree in any of the identified fields with a minimum of seven years' proven fundraising experience.
