POSITION SUMMARY:

To act as the point of contact to the court on dependency matters, including knowledge of child welfare services, knowledge of mental health and substance abuse services, knowledge of domestic violence services, and knowledge of how to access and arrange for services. To act as the point of contact at court to direct newer case management staff and stand in hearings as needed for assistance to the court on system questions.  

 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collect and review daily court prep forms related to court hearings on the docket to be prepared on all cases before the court.
  2. Work with the supervisors to identify any cases that need additional representation and support of case manager during the hearing.
  3. Report to Program Director and/or appropriate Supervisors any issues that arise in court for timely resolution.
  4. Communicate effectively and professionally to the court in response to system questions presented.
  5. Maintain a good working relationship with the judiciary and the Office of the Attorney General.
  6. Maintain handbook of processes, forms, referrals and needed items (bus passes) in the event that information is needed in a hearing in order to complete the hearing without the need for a reset or additional outcome hearing.
  7. Compiles, enters, evaluates and/or audits data protecting the integrity of clients, employees and company information.
  8. Establishes systems to achieve, monitor and maintain efficiencies, ensuring continuous flow of information to appropriate parties. Participates in data collection and analysis as required
  9. Provide input in FSFN related to attended court hearings and communicate with Supervisor any court orders that were given in hearings attended.
  10. Knowledgeable about cases enough to cover for a case manager in case of emergency and not able to attend a hearing.
  11. Report regularly to Program Director and/or Supervisor any issues, concerns or trends related to the organizations performance in court. Immediately report significant issues. 
  12. Assure compliance with state, local and federal laws related to child welfare.
  13. Prepares all documentation and/or reports for funders, lead agency, and appropriate management as required and in accordance with acceptable practices.
  14. Demonstrated cultural competency in working with clients and families.
  15. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of data and reports.
  16. Completes other duties and special projects as assigned within designated time frames
  17. Interact in a professional manner with staff from other agencies in order to build relationships and develop necessary services for clients.
  18. Ability to partner across the organization with multiple departments through the exchange of data, information, and frequent communication.    

 

Personal Staff Development

  1. Attend and participate in professional development training for professional growth as required.
  2. Demonstrated cultural competency in working with clients and families

 

 

Administrative Functions

  1. Maintain clear and concise documentation for services within the established time frame and standards per DFL policies & procedures, Florida state statute, and Child Protection Community Based Care Policies and Procedures. Provide complete documentation for services rendered within DFL's established time frames, including daily log, progress notes, assessments and case plans, and other required documentation.
  2. Complete assigned paperwork in compliance with DFL's policies & procedures including time sheets, mileage logs, leave request, client' records, client appointments and management information system.
  3. Documentation and Navigation of the electronic records (FSFN)
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Comply with all DFL policies and procedures including, but not limited to, the agency attendance policy, code of conduct, and ethics policy
  2. Must not present a direct threat to the safety or health of the employee or others
  3. Attend trainings as required
  4. Maintain effective working relationships with co-workers
  5. Effectively and consistently follow through with assignments in the designated time frame
  6. Maintain consumer confidentiality according to state law, professional standards, and agency policy
  7. Promote and maintain a professional attitude at all times

 

ACCESS TO PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION:

Will be knowledgeable in and practice all policies and procedures related to privacy and security practices cited in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) applicable to my program and position.

 

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors' degree in Social Work or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

Certification as a Child Protection Professional in FL. Two years Child Welfare Experience.

Experience presenting in the courtroom required.

Legal experience preferred.

  8. Remain current on training and documentation requirements. Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement.
  9. Supports and adheres to the five client promises.

 

SAFETY EQUIPMENT / PROCEDURES

Employee is required to:

  1. Maintain the safety of self and others at all times
  2. Complete all mandatory Health, Safety and Emergency Preparedness Trainings
  3. Wear seat belts while driving on organization business, and follow all corporate safety policies and procedures.

  8. There will be satisfactory completion of primary and secondary duties and responsibilities of the position as required by   

management and supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/OTHERS:

  1. Requires a flexible schedule, possible evening hours and up to 12 hour days.
  2. Is subject to air-conditioned environment on a daily basis.
  3. May be dealing with potentially dangerous situations/consumers.
  4. Requires ability to function effectively in a smoke-free workplace.
  5. Requires stamina to keep pace in a rapidly moving and fast-paced atmosphere.
  6. May be exposed to contagious conditions and communicable diseases, including but not limited to AIDS/HIV, staph, hepatitis, rubella, tuberculosis, cytomegalovirus, blood borne pathogens, lice, and scabies.
