Counselor- MH Court

Salary: $50,000/year

This is a professional clinical position providing counseling to adults identified by the Pinellas County Court for the Mental Health Court Diversion Program. Work involves the application of psychotherapeutic theories and practices. The Mental Health Counselor serves individuals who have entered the criminal justice system due to unmet mental health needs and is dedicated to assisting those individuals living with a mental health condition to remain living within their community with the services and supports they need. This includes a developing culturally specific individualized treatment plans in partnership with the individual, the care coordinator and court which reflects the individual's identified strengths and self - and identified goals. All services will be provided within a Recovery-oriented system of care, which builds on the individual's strengths and incorporates community, natural systems, and clinical supports and services in the management of the individual's needs. This is a professional clinical position that provides services in the field/ home/ community.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

1. Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field required.
2. Knowledge of ICD-10 diagnostic codes.
3. Basic knowledge of psychotropic medications.
4. Must have sufficient clinical knowledge to provide clinical intervention with adults and children who manifest a range of psychopathology, utilizing various treatment approaches including individual, family play, and group therapy, individual psychopathology and normal childhood development.
5. Must have a willingness to learn approaches with which staff are less familiar as required.
6. Must acquire knowledge of community resources.
