Counselor- Clincal Consultant

Counselor II:  Clinical Consultant - Family Works- This position entails working with families with dependent children identified by the school system as living homeless or housing unstable including doubled-up or in hotel/motel.  This position is designed to expressly prevent literal homelessness when possible and when homelessness has already occurred to ensure that the time homeless is brief and non-reoccurring.  The Clinical Consultant will work in a team approach to utilize a solution-focused, family centered approach and evidenced based practices to assist families in meeting needs and goals while family works toward securing safe and permanent housing. The Clinical Consultant will provide therapeutic services in the home or in a place convenient to the family.  The focus of this position is to provide short term crisis intervention services to 1) children and families who are living in public places not fit for human habitation and who are in need of a permanent housing plan or 2) children and families who are residing in motels, doubled up, or in emergency shelter/transitional housing. The Clinical Consultant will provide services that will be flexible to the parents needs and will include a discharge/after care plan for each family upon case closure.  The Clinical Consultant will identify the family's strengths and resources and build upon these elements. Individuals in this position will attend and participate in every integrated decision team case staffing. Upon assignment to a family, the clinician will assess all family members to determine the need for an in depth clinical assessment.  Transport clients in personal vehicle as part of service provision. Complete documentation per DFL's policy related to services provided.  Handle crisis situations in a professional and timely manner and apprises supervisor. Staff are required to complete all corporate and industry related training. Must have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited college or university. Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) preferred.  Minimum two years related previous experience conducting comprehensive clinical assessment and one year of which is in child welfare.

Directions for Living is an essential services provider.   All Directions for Living employees must be willing and able to provide vital support and essential services to the people that we serve in the event of an emergency, pandemic or other disaster situation. Essential employees may be required to work in the field, be "on call" and/or be available and able to work remotely providing telehealth services depending on the needs of the individual being served.
