Counselor- Adult /SPMI

This is a professional clinical position with the Pinellas County Empowerment Team 2.0 (PCET) providing therapy to a subacute population of adults with severe or persistent mental illness (SPMI) who are disproportionately overinvolved with the County Jail, and the public crisis stabilization unit/receiving facility and are at an increased risk for repeated or overuse of public resources. The adults will be identified exclusively by the Pinellas County Human Services and referred to PCET 2.0. Work involves the application of psychotherapeutic theories and practices. The Counselor will enhance the delivery of treatment services and recovery supports and to improve outcomes among the identified priority population. Mental Health Counselor serves to assist individuals providing a higher level of intensity and frequency of services based on the clinical and psychosocial indications of the individual. This includes a collaborative coordination and development of a culturally specific individualized treatment plan in partnership with the individual which reflects strengths and self - identified goals. As an integral part of services, discharge/transition services are arranged or coordinated by the Mental Health Counselor as an individual is preparing for discharge and/or transition from one level of care to another. These services are designed to support the attainment of individual-defined goals as identified in the individuated Treatment Plan (e.g. stable living arrangements, quality relationships, employment, vocational training and/or stable mental and physical health.) All services will be provided within a Recovery-oriented system of care, which builds on the individual's strengths and incorporates community, natural systems, and clinical supports and services in the management of the individual's needs. Responsible to meet productivity requirements of 80% which includes 1536 billable hours annually or a minimum of 32 billable hours per week.

Education/Experience Requirement:

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related area from an accredited university
  • Minimum of five years of experience in serving high-need or high-risk clients in a field-based environment.
