Children's In Home Counselor

This is a professional clinical position providing therapy to children and families/guardians with family-related issues. Work involves the application of psychotherapeutic theories and practices. Staff must work in the homes or on-site as assigned.

Directions for Living has embarked upon implementing and imbedding Trauma Informed Care principles throughout our agency. Candidates should have knowledge and/or interest in assisting Directions for Living carry out this implementation.

DUTIES

  • Establish and maintain effective rapport with clients andmaintains high satisfaction rate with clients and families served.
  • Develops and updates realistic and effective treatment plans with clients and their families as required and ensures that all documentation exhibits sound clinical judgment and identifies client success/improvements or issues and identifies client participation in the service process.
  • Conducts thorough client interviews/evaluations exhibiting accuracy and thoroughness of assessment and referral skills.
  • Maintain continuity of contact with clients as appropriate to their treatment plans.
  • Maintain a level of direct service of 5.5 per 8 hour day related to office- based time and a level of direct service of 4.6 per 8 hour day for field- based time.
  • Completes all required clinical paperwork within required timeframe.
  • Involve significant others of clients in their treatment as appropriate.
  • Provides clinical interventions, utilizing flexibility in approach,maintenance of appropriate boundaries, and sound psychotherapeutic principles.
  • Plan and implement psychotherapeutic and psycho-educational groups.
  • Transport clients as needed and required in personal vehicle as part of service provision.
  • Visit or work at sites outside the office for service provision and provide own safe transportation to such locations.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency in service provision including recognition of any unique aspects of persons served.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field required.
  • Must effectively apply clinical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of DSM-IV and ICD-9 diagnostic codes.
  • Clinical knowledge to provide clinical intervention with adults and children who manifest a range of psychopathology, utilizing various treatment approaches including individual, family, play, and group therapy, individual psychopathology and normal childhood development.
